Circo has perhaps one of the most unique interiors of any restaurant in New York. You find yourself in a space that is reminiscent of an old circus tent and the décor dazzles with big-top references. You are greeted upon entering by the delightful maître d and seated in this wonderful circular space.
Going to Circo always fills me with a sense of whimsy that is only partially offset by a Tuscan menu filled with wonderful house-made pastas and a wine list chock-full of Italians vintages.
On my most recent visit I had the lip-smacking Pappardelle con sugo d'anatra, Pappardelle pasta with Muscovy duck ragu and wild mushrooms. As good as it sounds.
I bring out of town guests to Circo not only for the food, but because, like so many things in New York, it’s something you don’t find anywhere else.
